# What is the difference between static residential proxy and residential proxy?

Static Residential proxies (also known as ISP proxies) are sourced directly from ISPs, so in this respect they are no different to residential proxies. However, they originate from servers that are perfectly stable with fantastic internet speeds. ISP proxies allow you to stick with the same IP addresses for as long as you need, come with no bandwidth restrictions, and unlimited session lengths to help you complete large-scale web scraping tasks over longer periods of time.

Residential proxies are created when users share their home internet connection through their home devices. Keeping the same IP can be difficult, however, as users can disable the service, their internet, or their device at will, and internet speeds are not always the fastest. Residential proxies will change IP addresses either on a set time interval or with each request by default, allowing you to easily avoid IP bans.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.711proxy.com/faq/general/what-is-the-difference-between-static-residential-proxy-and-residential-proxy.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
